See you later, Colorado!

It's been about 3 years since our first New Zealand adventure. Ruben has been working as a family practitioner at Centura Primary Care, which is located about 6 miles from our house in Golden. He didn't mind the commute to Longmont, but I think it's great to stop by the clinic once in a while to say  hello to his delightful medical assistant Michelle, and Ruben has enjoyed being able to rejoin the Denver Trail Runners on Thursday nights. Lots of other advantages appear every day!

Despite our true satisfaction with our current routines, Ruben was ready to take advantage of the end of his contract with Centura to go back to NZ. He will resume his clinic position in March 2018, and in the meantime he will be working as a general practitioner for the Medical Council of New Zealand. NZLocums has once again made all of the arrangements for us.

No house sale this time. Thank goodness! Our friend Pat Crespi, who recently returned to Denver from Portland, will stay at the house while we are away and she searches for her forever home in greater Denver. We are so pleased that it worked out this way!

This post is really just a way for me to get back into the swing of posting. Better stuff will be forthcoming (I hope!). This reminds me to see if my trusty little camera is still operational...

We were sad to learn that my dad's older brother, Donald Schneider, died November 4. He was 82 years old and if heaven works this way, the brothers will be so happy to see each other. The services were held November 18 in Cookeville, Tennessee, where Donald, his wife Marilyn, and her two sons have lived for many years. I flew to Chicago November 16 to drive to Tennessee on Friday, November 17. Mom's car had a coolant valve malfunction that our guardian angel arranged to appear the day before we began our 16+ hours of weekend driving, so she rented a very comfortable Dodge Durango for the drive. Donald was sure missed at this little family reunion, but it was so nice to see my cousins and the time with Mom and Elaine before being away from the US was wonderful!
