Westport Week 1

We're still technically homeless, but managing to establish a routine and happy to have access to daily shower facilities. Westport has heaps of hippy-type backpackers passing through, and not all of them can say that they've had a bath recently. I had noticed that the guidebooks advised strategically selecting the people with whom you share a tour. Now I know why. We're signed up at the Solid Energy Centre for swimming and fitness centre stuff and the other day we took a tour through one of the limestone cave systems that are so prevalent in this area of the Northern West Coast of NZ.

Bringing sexy back in wetsuits, life vests, and hardhats.

We hiked quite a way into the bush wearing our wetsuits and hauling the inner tubes that would carry us back out of the cave system.  It's dark inside the caves, of course, so we don't have much in the way of photos, except this shot on the left of the insects called glowworms that attach themselves to the ceiling of the cave. They light up to attract the bugs they feed on. There were thousands of lights on the ceiling of this cave, so it looked like floating under a galaxy of stars.
