After our 3-hour tramp we decided to reward ourselves with a soak at the Tekapo Springs Hot Spa. There are 4 pools of varying levels of warm. The warmest, adults-only pool was 38 degrees Celsius. We planned to stay there to ease our joints and muscles and avoid the kids, but it wasn't too crowded so we eventually moved to cooler and cooler pools before working our way back up to the warmest pool. As evening fell, the pool-goers increased and we were ready for dinner and the drive home, so we pulled our pruny selves out of the pool. We took another route home, we came on Primary Road 8 through Fairlie and went home via Primary Roads 83 and 82 through Twizel and Omarama and some other very tiny little towns along the Kirkliston Range, Lake Aviemore, and Lake Waitaki.
